Late To The Future is on pause. I don’t know for how long. Maybe a while.
The honest version: both this newsletter and my other one, Little Yellow Different, have been losing readers. And at some point I had to ask myself whether writing is still worth doing at all.
I decided I owe it one real answer. So I’m running a concentrated sprint — one newsletter, real effort, see what happens. To do that, something had to go.
If you want to keep reading, I’m over at Little Yellow Different. It’s personal essays — tech, identity, my father, the specific comedy of being a Gen X Taiwanese-American who should really know better by now. I’ll still have things to say about AI, but through that lens: what it actually feels like to use it, worry about it, and occasionally want to throw it out a window.

Long time reader here. I followed your blog every week back in the early 2000s, then rediscovered you on Substack about 5 years ago. I've never used Substack for anything else, and I read your posts via email, so I'd guess my views don't show up in your stats and I'm assuming there's plenty more like me.
We're around the same age and going through similar things in life at the moment. I won't get into mine, but I've loved your witty takes on your own journey over the years. Hope you keep posting on LYD. I'll try to remember how to log in to this site and comment more often.

I saw the 'Also share to Notes' checkbox when I was posting my previous comment. I had a brief 'I wonder what that is?' moment. You mentioned that it was a social networking system, so I'm not going to investigate further. My procrastination drawer is already full.
I just checked my old email address and we've exchanged messages once before. It was 21 years ago. I was commenting regarding testing on old Internet Explorer versions [shiver]. Not sure what the context was, but it would have been something you'd referred to in the blog.
